$10K Donation to Highlight Operation HOPE’s Growing Global “Silver Rights” Mission; Event Signals Upcoming Global Financial Summit, June 17, 2009, in Washington, DC
LOS ANGELES-- JUNE 4, 2009 --In spite of these economic down times, Chinatrust Bank (U.S.A.) is giving back to its local community, making a $10,000 donation to Operation HOPE (HOPE) in an effort to advance its strategic goal of empowering underserved communities. On June 3, 2009, working with empowerment financial literacy nonprofit Operation HOPE (which specializes in providing economic tools and services for under resourced communities), the Bank's Chairman -- Thomas Chen -- several directors and executive management joined HOPE to provide financial planning training to students at Carson Senior High School.
Specifically, about 20 Bank Directors and employees trained about 200 students on financial planning and banking. Using Banking on Our Future, HOPE's award-winning financial literacy program designed for youth, Chinatrust helped give Carson students the foundation and skill set to successfully plan for their future. In addition, Chinatrust held an open forum for the students to ask questions regarding banking, starting a business and overall business advice. To promote the students' long-term financial planning and encourage good savings habits the Bank provided saving incentives through a matched savings account. The relationship highlights HOPE’s growing global presence and outreach.
The event exemplifies the Bank’s motto "We are Family," and Chinatrust's Bank family includes its local communities. A wholly-owned subsidiary of Chinatrust Commercial Bank in Taiwan with 22 branches coast to coast in California, New Jersey, New York and Washington, Chinatrust Bank (U.S.A.) is one of the first Asian American Banks to operate both in the Eastern and Western United States.
