MasterCard Commits $100,000 to Support Operation HOPE's Financial Literacy Program Nationwide
LOS ANGELES, CA--- February 20, 2008---MasterCard Worldwide has committed $100,000 to support nonprofit Operation HOPE's (HOPE) award-winning youth financial literacy program, Banking on Our Future. Additionally, MasterCard will also encourage its employees to participate in classrooms to teach the organization's smart money management concepts.
HOPE President Bill Walbrecher expressed his enthusiasm for the sponsorship from MasterCard, "We are pleased that MasterCard has joined our team. With its assistance, Operation HOPE will have a significant impact in underserved areas and MasterCard is demonstrating that education is the ultimate poverty eradication tool."
Since 1996, Banking on Our Future volunteers have educated more than 270,000 students nationwide on how to manage money and make investments. It provides an on-the-ground and online program that offers four core modules on banking, savings, investment and credit.
