Operation HOPE Statement on the Passing of Preston Martin, National Board Member and HOPE Advocate
“Preston Martin had such a profound impact on my life and the original viability of this dream called Operation HOPE. We owe our substantive relationship with the Federal Reserve System, its chairman, former chairman and Fed former vice chairman, principally to him.
"Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family. Knowing Dr. Martin as we did, we trust that he is in a place of peace, for if anyone deserved peace and grace, it was him.
"To his credit, directors Tim Chrisman and George Haligowski, and HOPE supporter, Dean Schultz, at the Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco, had hoped to join with Operation HOPE to 'honor' Dr. Martin on June 20th in San Francisco. Our only regret is not moving earlier to show how much we and others cared.”
