Nandita Bakhshi Appointed to Operation HOPE Global Board

ATLANTA – June 27, 2016 – Global financial dignity and economic empowerment leader, Operation HOPE, Inc. has appointed Nandita Bakhshi to its global board of directors.

Bakhshi is President and Chief Executive Officer of San Francisco-based Bank of the West, and CEO of BancWest, the indirect holding company for Bank of the West. She also serves on the Board of Directors of Bank of the West, and BancWest, and is a member of the bank’s Executive Management Committee.

Prior to Bakhshi’s appointment, her predecessor, Michael Shepherd, served on the global board from the inception of the Bank’s partnership with Operation HOPE in March 2010.

Prior to joining Bank of the West in 2016, Bakhshi held several leadership positions at TD Bank, including Executive Vice President and Head of North American Direct Channels. In that role, she was responsible for driving innovation in direct and electronic channels to improve digital adoption and provide customers with a unified banking experience.  Previously, she served as Executive Vice President and Head of Consumer Banking at TD Bank in the U.S., where she led product innovation and delivery across all retail channels, spanning more than 1,300 bank locations from Maine to Florida.

A 28-year veteran of the financial services industry, with broad experience in banking, Bakhshi was also Executive Vice President of Consumer Deposits and Payments at Washington Mutual, now JP Morgan Chase, in Seattle, and also held leadership positions at FleetBoston, now Bank of America, and First Data Corp., where she was the managing director of their mobile payments division.

Bakhshi serves on the Supervisory Board of The Clearing House. She holds a Master of Arts degree in International Relations from Jadavpur University in India.

Bank of the West is a valuable and innovative community partner with noteworthy accomplishments—it was the first financial institution in the country to host a HOPE Inside office, and recently opened the first HOPE Inside location in the state of Colorado. Bank of the West is committed to helping raise credit scores of community members, support small business ownership, and reach students in K-12th grades with early financial education through its support of Operation HOPE.
