Assistant Secretary Jay Williams Announces $2.5 Million Economic Development Administration Investment at Operation HOPE Global Forum
Atlanta – January 18, 2015 -- U.S. Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Economic Development Jay Williams travelled to Atlanta to announce a $2.5 million EDA investment Friday, January 16th, at the 2015 HOPE Global Forum Annual Meeting. This EDA investment in Operation HOPE supports the HOPE “Inside Small Business Empowerment Initiative” (SBEI).
This SBEI initiative aims to assist 3,000 small business owners and create 600 new small businesses in nine states and the District of Columbia. SBEI plans to enroll 4,500 participants in credit and money management and educate 6,000 participants through their Small Business Workshops. The initiative further seeks to graduate 600 entrepreneurs from their new training programs.
The Forum is a membership organization dedicated to outlining a vision for the future of the modern global economy. It is a vision that embraces all people, including the poor, underserved and teetering middle class are viewed as untapped assets for economic growth, entrepreneurship and job creation.
The annual forum, hosted by HOPE at the Omni Hotel in downtown Atlanta, Georgia, will bring together Heads of State, C-suite executives, civic and financial leaders to outline a vision for the future of the modern global economy.
