Mayor of Atlanta Kasim Reed Welcomes the 2015 HOPE Global Forum to the City of Atlanta as an Honorary Co-Chair

ATLANTA, GA – November 17, 2014 – Operation HOPE (HOPE), the leading global financial dignity nonprofit, today announced that Kasim Reed Mayor of the City of Atlanta will serve as Honorary Co-chair for the 2015 HOPE Global Forum in Atlanta, January 15th-17th.  Mayor Reed has served as an Honorary Co-chair Operation HOPE’s global meetings in Atlanta since 2012.

The annual forum, hosted by HOPE at the Omni Hotel in downtown Atlanta, Georgia, will bring together Heads of State, C-suite executives, civic and financial leaders to outline a vision for the future of the modern global economy. This vision that includes all people as HOPE sees the poor, underserved and teetering middle class as untapped assets for economic growth, entrepreneurship and job creation.

Kasim Reed was inaugurated as the 59th Mayor of the City of Atlanta on January 4, 2010. Since taking office, Mayor Reed has hired more than 200 police officers, improved fire-rescue response times, re-opened all of the city’s recreation centers, and improved the service delivery of city departments such as Sanitation and Public Works. During his first year in office, he increased the city’s reserves from $7.4 to $56 million dollars and initiated a series of reforms to address the city’s unfunded pension fund liability.
