Operation HOPE Joins Regions Bank to Support National Preparedness Month

BIRMINGHAM, AL.—September 5, 2014-- Throughout September, Regions Bank (NYSE:RF) will support National Preparedness Month by providing resources, advice and financial tools to customers and communities, helping them prepare for emergencies and disasters.

HOPE Coalition America (HCA) is also partnering with Regions Bank to help provide more people with preparedness resources and tools. HCA, the disaster preparedness and recovery division of financial empowerment nonprofit Operation HOPE, is the only financial emergency preparedness and recovery service in the country. HCA offers an online financial preparedness test called "Are You Ready?"

"We have a great relationship with Regions, and we are looking forward to partnering in an effort to have our communities ready for anything that comes their way," said Oliver Bell, Southeast Region CEO of Operation HOPE and Director of HOPE Coalition America.

Regions kicked off its initiative Wednesday, Sept. 3, with the Regions Readiness Rally at the company's Birmingham headquarters. ABC 33/40 meteorologist James Spann served as guest speaker. The event was open to the public and provided a forum for community organizations to share information about preparedness. Regions also plans to hold similar events in Tampa and Indianapolis later in the month.

Regions will provide updated information on RegionsBankNews.com and on Twitter, via @RegionsNews, in recognition of National Preparedness Month. Additional information will be available from the Disaster Resource Center on Regions.com, where tips for customers and small businesses are available to view and download.

"We've seen the dangers, and now we are working together to help our customers and communities prepare."

National Preparedness Month, now in its 10th year, is a nationwide effort hosted by the Ready Campaign and Citizens Corps that encourages households, businesses and communities to prepare and plan for emergencies. HCA has helped more than 750,000 individuals and small business recover from such disasters as hurricanes, tornados, flooding and major storms. Since its formation in 2001, the result of a partnership with the Department of Homeland Security and FEMA, HCA has strengthened and expanded the financial counseling resources available to help individuals and families prepare for disasters and recover in the shortest possible time.  In 2013, HCA expanded services, signing a Memorandum of Understanding with the American Red Cross as a second-step responder to help the communities they serve in the aftermath of large scale catastrophes.
