Operation HOPE Celebrates 50th Anniversary of the Civil Rights Act

Financial independence book makes three bestseller lists

LOS ANGELES – July 2, 2014 – Today marks the one-month anniversary of the release of How the Poor Can Save Capitalism (Berrett-Koehler Publisher) by John Hope Bryant CEO of Operation HOPE. Notably this also marks the 50th anniversary of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

“This book is a memo to America, which fulfills King’s dream of economic and civil rights. It lays out a plan for rebuilding a path to the middle class; a pathway for true financial and personal independence, an important goal as we celebrate our nation’s independence,” says the author.

CEOREAD announced today, the book as #9 on its Best-seller list, a monthly compilation of the top selling books by the wholesale business book leader. These books are featured on their website, and within the Keen Thinker Newsletter, and syndicated through various publications.

How the Poor Can Save Capitalism has reached as high as #9 on Amazon’s Bestsellers list, and also topped the chart as the #1 Bestselling book on Poverty and Social Policy, arguably the most important issues in America. The publisher is already rushing a reprint of the book.

The title also climbed to #1 of all Berrett Koehler Publishers titles on the Apple App Store and iBooks.

In his new book Bryant, lays out a plan for financial inclusion as a step towards financial independence for individuals in underserved communities. Business and political leaders, Bryant points out, are ignoring the one force that could truly re-energize the stalled American economy: the 'poor.'  If we give the teetering class (the poor, near poor, and struggling middle class) the right tools, policies and inspiration, he asserts, they will be able to life themselves up into a stable middle class and become a new generation of customers and entrepreneurs.

The book has met with excellent reviews across party lines, as a solutions-based approach to the problem of income and wealth inequality.
