Operation HOPE Joins Youth Finance CYFI Organization at the United Nations
New York – May 22, 2014 – Operation HOPE participated in a conference themed A Chance for Change at the United Nations Headquarters hosted by the Child and Youth Finance International (CYFI), a global organization focused on increasing the financial inclusion and finance education for children and youth. The meeting included a high-level stakeholder meeting on the 22nd and the 3rd Annual Child and Youth Finance Awards Ceremony on the 23rd.
The meeting was co-organized with UNCDF and held with the support and participation of Mr. Ahmad Alhendawi, the UN Secretary-General’s Envoy on Youth; the support of the Romanian Permanent Mission to the UN; and the participation of Her Excellency Simona-Mirela Miculescu, the Ambassador of the Romanian Permanent Mission to the UN.
In support of HOPE’s global youth initiatives, staff members Mary Ehrsam Chief Executive Officer, New York and Division President, HOPE Youth Empowerment Group; Shannon Campbell Managing Director, HOPE Global Initiatives; and Angela Russo Youth Empowerment Program Manager New York, along with 40 students from the Banking on Our Future program attended the activities. Through the Global Initiatives portfolio, HOPE manages its efforts to reach underserved communities worldwide and improve the quality of life in developing countries through economic empowerment.
Child & Youth Finance International has over more than 1000 stakeholders. The movement has reached 18,738,224 children around the world and works in 125 countries. It has built global knowledge and shares resources on best practices and industry research. It beleives that every child can graduate from primary school with financial education and their own saving account to own and operate. Its target is to reach 100 million children in 100 countries by 2015.
