Operation HOPE Appoints SEDCO Capital CEO Hasan Al Jabri to its International Advisory Board

LOS ANGELES – May 1, 2014 – Financial dignity leader Operation HOPE announced today that SEDCO Capital’s Chief Executive Officer Hasan Al Jabri has been selected to serve on the International Advisory Board for Operation HOPE. As a member of the board, Mr. Al Jabri will use his business acumen to help drive the international dialogue around youth empowerment and financial inclusion.

“A personal friend of mine, Hasan Al Jabri is an ideal choice to represent Saudi Arabia on HOPE’s International Advisory Board,” said HOPE Founder, Chairman and CEO John Hope Bryant.  “With his business experience and dedication to the community he will play a key role in helping this board make a positive difference.”

In 2012, SEDCO, (Saudi Economic and Development Company) partnered with Operation HOPE to create Riyali, a program in Saudi Arabia that teaches students the financial management skills necessary to achieve and maintain a dignified life. The success of the program includes a measurable improvement in financial literacy skills for students. Additionally, the SEDCO Holding Group recently launched the Riyali mobile application to complement the program and further enhance consumers' financial skills.

“I am very proud to be part of this group that is leading an initiative that has touched the lives of so many. Together, we will have the ability to touch more lives across the globe,” said Mr. Al Jabri.  “We would like countries from all over the world to follow our model and apply a literacy program to their youth. This will give them the confidence to start on their own; turning them from laborers to business owners and from getting salaries to making profits whilst creating value to the economies in which they operate.”

Hasan Al Jabri has been a major player in investment banking and corporate finance for over 27 years, holding leading positions in two of Mena region’s most influential financial institutions; NCB Group and SAMBA. His achievements have driven these institutions to become leaders in corporate finance, corporate banking and investment management. He leads SEDCO Capital, helping to manage and advise on investments both locally and internationally in different asset classes including private equity, public equity and global real-estate whilst ensuring that all these investments comply with the challenging Shari’ah guidelines, spear heading the way into ethical investment solutions.

Mr. Al Jabri’s passion has been focused on financial dignity for the less privileged; he strongly believes that each individual must be given the opportunity to thrive and become self-sustainable. Accordingly, he worked on founding several organizations that helped people to thrive, like opening doors to a microfinance bank in Syria and an angel investment fund in KSA. (Read full bio here.)
