Operation HOPE Moves into Donated Office Space at CNA Headquarters
CNA Foundation awards $50,000 grant in support of the organizations’ mission
CHICAGO – April 23, 2013 – Operation HOPE today officially moved its Chicago operation into donated office space at the CNA Corporate Headquarters at 333 South Wabash. Operation HOPE staff was greeted with a $50,000 grant from the CNA Foundation to help support the organizations’ mission to elevate the dignity, hope, and economic self-sufficiency of people in low-wealth communities through financial literacy.
“The CNA Foundation is committed to strengthening the communities where CNA employees live and work by providing financial and volunteer support to nonprofit organizations dedicated to building healthy and prosperous neighborhoods,” said Sarah Pang, executive director of the CNA Foundation.
“It is through partnerships like this that HOPE is able to deliver the financial literacy tools that empower our youth and change lives,” said Operation HOPE President of Global Youth Empowerment Group and Chief Executive Officer New York Market Mary Hagerty Ehrsam.
Earlier in the day, CNA employees had teamed up with Operation HOPE to provide financial literacy training for students at the Chicago’s St. John de la Salle Catholic Academy. The training was part of HOPE’s Banking on Our Future program, which teaches youth the basics of checking, saving and the importance of credit and investment.
Banking on Our Future is a winner of the Oprah’s Angel Network Award and the U.S. Treasury Department’s John Sherman Award for Financial Literacy Excellence.
