HOPE Coalition America Comes to the Aid of More Than 200 Residents in Brick, NJ

Operation HOPE division focused on financial preparedness and recovery helps in Hurricane Sandy recovery effort

Brick, NJ – Saturday, February 23, 2013 – Today, financial empowerment nonprofit Operation HOPE hosted a “Day of Financial Recovery with Dignity” where more than 200 attendees gathered to meet Brick Mayor Stephen C. Acropolis and to receive financial management services from JPMorgan Chase, FEMA, and Operation HOPE volunteers.

“This is a great opportunity to gather and assess the next leg of this financial reconstruction journey,” said Mayor Acropolis. “We are pleased to be the focus of Project Restore HOPE. These services are most welcomed as the residents of Brick try to rebuild their lives after the devastating storm.”

HOPE Coalition America (HCA), the nonprofit’s emergency financial preparedness and planning division, is dedicating a team in the New York and New Jersey area for the rest of the year to assist those impacted by Sandy.

Jason Yancey, HCA director, has been on the ground since November 2012 recruiting and training volunteers to help provide “financial triage” to survivors. To date more than 1200 volunteers from the financial sector has committed to the project.

JPMorgan Chase, the event sponsor, has also committed 500 plus volunteers to date, and $400,000, in revenue to help bolster HCA’s financial relief guidance and assistance services for the effort. Other organizations on hand to help included the United Way, Habitat for Humanity, SBA, New Jersey VOAD and FEMA.

Saturday's event was only one among a series of first steps on the long road to financial stability and recovery for many of the individuals devastated by Sandy, and HOPE is committed to helping them succeed in the journey.  The next Day of HOPE and Recovery will take place on March 23 in Staten Island, NJ.
