Bill Walbrecher Named to the Advisory Board of the World Economic Forum

Operation HOPE President to play a role in developing solutions for the global agenda

(LOS ANGELES, CA) - March 22, 2010 - William C. Walbrecher, president and chief operating officer of financial literacy nonprofit, Operation HOPE, has been named to the Advisory Board of the Housing for All Project at the World Economic Forum. Through Walbrecher, Operation HOPE will join an elite advisory board including Habitat for Humanity, UN-HABITAT, Rockefeller Foundation, BASF and others that bring a diverse set of perspectives and voices from different parts of the world.

“I am honored to have been asked to accept such a prestigious position and humbled to serve as an Advisory Board member of the Housing for All Project at the Forum,” said Walbrecher. “I look forward to contributing to the Forum’s core mission of “improving the state of the world.”

Launched in 2009, the Housing for All Project aims to equip business and government leaders with the knowledge and resources to better engage in public-private partnership housing solutions.

The World Economic Forum is a Geneva-based nonprofit foundation best known for its annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland, which brings together top business leaders, international political leaders, selected intellectuals and journalists to discuss the most pressing issues facing the world, including health, the environment and housing, among others.

Walbrecher is an accomplished Fortune 500 bank CEO who achieves extraordinary results in the world of business and finance at the highest levels. His expertise is new ventures, emerging growth companies and turnarounds on strategies to prepare the platform for future growth, profitability, and enhanced value.  Walbrecher has served as a member of the Board of Directors of several banks and most recently was the Chairman of both the Asset/Liability and Loan Committees at First Professional Bank, headquartered in California. Walbrecher was also a White House Presidential Executive, the only thrift industry executive ever nominated and the highest honor The White House bestows on outstanding individuals from the corporate sector.
