State Farm Insurance Sponsors Operation HOPE Center to Provide Financial Literacy Empowerment and Financial Counseling Services to Atlanta’s Underserved Communities

Washington, D.C.—August 13, 2010—The Financial Services Roundtable is proud to announce State Farm Insurance’s sponsorship of the Operation HOPE Financial Literacy Empowerment Center at Ebenezer Baptist Church service in Atlanta, GA.

The Atlanta HOPE Center will be the “national flagship” for Operation HOPE and part of the new Martin Luther King, Sr., Community Resource Complex on the campus of Ebenezer Baptist Church. The Atlanta HOPE Center will offer financial case management, homeownership programs, small business banking services and financial literacy programs.

“This new HOPE Center will provide financial literacy programs, offering individuals ‘a hand up not a hand out,’” said Operation HOPE Founder, Chairman and CEO John Hope Bryant.  “It is part of HOPE’s overall goal to create a Silver Rights Movement that seeks to empower underserved communities and make the financial system work for them.”

The Atlanta HOPE Center is the 11th Operation HOPE Center in the country and has a five million dollar capital budget. A Shovel Ceremony for the Atlanta HOPE Center took place on April 7, 2010.

Roundtable member companies SunTrust Banks, Inc. and Wells Fargo & Company have also provided funding for the development and operations of the Atlanta HOPE Center.

State Farm’s sponsorship of the Atlanta HOPE Center falls under the Operation HOPE/Roundtable Financial Literacy Framework Agreement. The Framework is a five-year plan designed to nurture C-Suite leadership around financial literacy, further integrate financial literacy into the "business case" of the financial industry, and in so doing to highlight the financial services industry's commitment to financial literacy through principles and efforts, in conjunction with one of the Roundtable's leading non-profit partners, Operation HOPE.
