The church was founded in 1886 by Rev. John A. Parker. Ebenezer has earned a reputation for social activism, and was named part of Martin Luther King, Jr., National Historic Site as it has played an integral part of the King legacy, being where King and his father Martin Luther King, Sr. pastored.
