Online Adult Financial Literacy in Partnership with the FDIC
As an alliance member of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), Operation HOPE is able to offer free adult financial literacy courses online.
The online financial education curriculum, Money Smart, is a comprehensive program that will help you develop financial skills and positive banking relationships.
Money Smart is a program that consists of ten modules that are designed to teach the basics of banking. The ten Money Smart training modules are:
Bank on it: An introduction to bank services
Borrowing Basics: An introduction to credit
Check it Out: How to choose and keep a checking account
Money Matters: How to keep track of your money
Pay Yourself First: Why you should save, save, save
Keep it safe: Your rights as a consumer
To Your Credit: How your credit history will affect your credit future
Charge it Right: How to make a credit card work for you
Loan to Own: Know what you’re borrowing before you buy
Your Own Home: What homeownership is all about
Homeownership Counseling: Case Management Program
If you are enrolled in the Case Management Program and attending the 6 Step Classes these classes online are optional, but we highly recommend that you use as an additional resource. Also, Money Smart can replace the “6 Step Classes” requirement for the Case Management Program if you cannot attend the “6 Step Classes” at a HOPE Center location (due to work schedule, distance, etc.). If you are completing your education online, the six modules required to complete the Case Management Program are:
Borrowing Basics: An introduction to credit
Money Matters: How to keep track of your money
Pay Yourself First: Why you should save, save, save
To Your Credit: How your credit history will affect your credit future
Charge it Right: How to make a credit card work for you
Your Own Home: What homeownership is all about
