Andrea Jung joins 2017 HOPE Global Forum speaker lineup

ATLANTA – April 3, 2017 – Global financial dignity and economic empowerment nonprofit Operation HOPE, Inc. announced today the addition of Andrea Jung, president and CEO of Grameen America, as a featured speaker at the 2017 HOPE Global Forum. The three-day event, now the largest and most prominent gathering of leaders in the world focused exclusively on financial inclusion and the empowerment of the poor, will be held in Atlanta, April 10-12.

“We are delighted to have Andrea Jung at our annual meeting,” said John Hope Bryant, founder, chairman and CEO of Operation HOPE. “Her passion for advancing inclusion, particularly as it relates to women, is impactful, and we welcome her contributions.”

Jung joined Grameen America with the goal of scaling the organization to solve economic issues for women and their families across the country. She is the former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Avon Products, Inc., where she served as CEO from 1999 through April 2012, and as Chairman from 2001 through December 2012. Throughout her professional career, Jung ranked consistently among the top leaders on lists including Fortune magazine's "Most Powerful Women in Business," Forbes magazine's "Most Powerful Women in the World," and Financial Times' "Top Women in World Business."  She is a member of the Board of Directors of the General Electric Company, Apple, Inc., and Daimler AG. She also serves on the Committee for Economic Development, an independent, nonprofit, nonpartisan American think tank.

With the theme “Uplifting the Invisible Class,” the 2017 HOPE Global Forum will challenge over 3,200 delegates from more than 25 countries to outline a vision for a new, global economy—where the poor, underserved and dislocated middle class are viewed as untapped assets for entrepreneurship, job creation and economic growth. Gardner joins an esteemed group of global thought leaders and influencers scheduled to address participants, including, Tony Schwartz, CEO, The Energy Project; Ajay Banga, CEO, Mastercard; and Lisa Borders, President, Women’s National Basketball Association.

About Operation HOPE

Since 1992, Operation HOPE has been moving America from civil rights to "silver rights" with the mission of making free enterprise and capitalism work for the underserved. Through its core programs, the nonprofit has provided financial dignity and economic empowerment to over 2.6 million individuals worldwide, and $2 billion in economic activity for the disenfranchised—turning check cashing customers into banking customers, renters into homeowners, small business dreamers into small business owners and minimum wage workers into living wage consumers.  Project 5117 is HOPE’s multi-year four-pronged approach to combating economic inequality that aims to improve financial literacy, increase business role models and business internships for youth, and stabilize the American dream by boosting credit scores. Operation HOPE recently received its second consecutive 4-star charity rating for fiscal management and commitment to transparency and accountability by the prestigious non-profit evaluator, Charity Navigator—further establishing it as a best-in-class organization.
