John Hope Bryant Receives Financial Education Advocate Award

36th Annual Urban Financial Services Coalition Conference in Kansas City takes part in Love Leadership discussions as Bryant addresses delegates as Keynote Speaker

Kansas City, MO – June 14, 2010
– Operation HOPE (HOPE) Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer John Hope Bryant received the Urban Financial Coalition’s 2010 Champion of Financial Literacy Award. This notable award is given to individuals who promote and teach financial literacy, inspire learning in adults and teens, and has earned the respect and admiration of their colleagues and communities.

“The Financial Services Coalition does great work in line with our goals at Operation HOPE,” said Chairman John Hope Bryant. “Reaching out to minority communities and teaching people the ‘language of money’ is work that we all can come together and achieve. I am honored to receive this award.”

The 2010 Champion of Financial Literacy Award was presented to Bryant at the UFSC’s annual convention in Kansas City in June where Bryant was the Keynote Speaker. In line with the conference’s topic “Charting Your Course for the New Economy,” Bryant spoke on the basic tenants to his business bestselling book LOVE LEADERSHIP: a New Way to Lead in a Fear-Based World. LOVE LEADERSHIP outlines the five laws of love-based leadership: Loss Creates Leaders (there can be no strength without legitimate suffering), Fear Fails (only respect and love leads to success), Love Makes Money (love is at the core of true wealth), Vulnerability is Power (when you open up to people they open up to you), and Giving is Getting (the more you offer to others, the more they will give back to you).

Established in 1974, The Urban Financial Services Coalition is an organization of minority professionals in the financial services industry and related fields. Affiliation with UFSC offers a unique opportunity to influence the shape of the banking and financial services industry. UFSC promotes the personal and professional development of its members as well as improvement in the financial condition of our ethnically and culturally diverse communities through education, home ownership, and local economic development.
