Craig DeRoy formed CIDG in 2007, after electing early retirement from his role as president of the First American Corporation, to facilitate his continued work in connection with commitments to the Clinton Global Initiative and other business and philanthropic opportunities focused on poverty alleviation. Mr. DeRoy manages and leads a consortium of companies and a project team consisting of the CEO's from Opportunity International (micro-finance lender), International Land Systems (land record system implementation and administration), ESRI (GIS/GPS mapping software developer/provider) and First American in a long term project focused on formalizing land title in conjunction with micro-finance loans in the developing world. Mr. DeRoy, on behalf of First American, also leads a commitment to the Clinton Global Initiative designed to pilot test the Hope Center model, developed by Operation Hope, in Mexico.
Craig I. DeRoy is the former president of The First American Corporation and also serves on the board of directors for the company’s largest subsidiary, First American Title Insurance Company.
With nearly 25 years of legal and management experience, DeRoy is a published authority on corporate and environmental risk management. A native of Los Angeles, he is a graduate of the University of Southern California and Loyola University School of Law. He also holds an LL.M. in taxation from the University of San Diego, School of Law. He resides in Rolling Hills Estates, Calif., with his wife, Loren, and their two sons.
