Gary Hattem is Managing Director of Deutsche Bank and heads its Foundation and Community Development Group. He is responsible for the firm’s lending, investment and philanthropic activities, targeted to low and moderate income communities and oversees the firm’s corporate citizenship activities for the Americas. Mr. Hattem established the Community Development Group when he joined Deutsche Bank in 1990 and has earned the firm the reputation as an innovative leader in the field of private sector reinvestment in distressed communities.
In addition to this community development focus, Mr. Hattem is the President of the Deutsche Bank Americas Foundation managing its philanthropic program with grants made in the fields of education, arts and the environment, as well as community development.
Mr. Hattem holds many leadership positions in philanthropy, and community reinvestment. Most notably, he is Chairman of the Pratt Center Advisory Committee, Chairman of the Local Initiatives Support Corporation’s New York City Advisory Committee, is President of the DB Microcredit Development Fund, and is a former member of the Federal Reserve Board’s Consumer Advisory Council and was Chairman of its Housing and Community Affairs Committee.
Mr. Hattem holds a Masters Degree in City and Regional Planning from Pratt Institute.
