J. Scott Wilfong

J. Scott Wilfong is Chairman, President and CEO of SunTrust Bank, Greater Washington/Maryland, which is comprised of the District of Columbia, Maryland and Northern Virginia and operates a network of over 260 offices.
A 33-year veteran of the banking industry, Mr. Wilfong previously served as President and CEO of SunTrust Bank, Atlanta and President and CEO of SunTrust Bank, Maryland. Prior to joining a SunTrust predecessor in 1997, Mr. Wilfong worked as senior vice president and commercial division manager at First Union National Bank in Maryland. Mr. Wilfong began his banking career with Equitable Trust Company in 1972.
While in Atlanta, Mr Wilfong served on multiple boards. He has also served on the boards of the Baltimore Development Corporation, Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Catholic Charities, Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond - Baltimore Branch, Greater Baltimore Alliance, Greater Baltimore Committee, Mercy Health Services, Inc., and Loyola College’s Sellinger School of Business & Management. He currently serves as Chair American Heart Walk 2007-2008, Washington Board of Trade, Greater Washington Initiative (Executive Committee), Federal City Council (Executive Committee), HEROES, Inc, Washington National Zoo, Mt. St. Mary’s University, Virginia Early Children’s Foundation. Mr. Wilfong is a graduate of the Greater Baltimore Committee’s Leadership Program and the Maryland State Leadership Program. He was named 2001 Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser of the Year by the Association of Fundraising Professionals for the State of Maryland. A. Baltimore native, Wilfong earned a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Mount St. Mary’s College and an MBA from Loyola College. He served on the 2008 Board of the Washington Airports Task Force.
