Ivy Adams Oxendine is a native Georgian; born in 1971 at Albany’s Phoebe Putney Hospital. Her father, Louis, was an attorney and her mother, Jeanette, the first female levying officer with the Georgia Department of Revenue.
Honored with a Trustees Scholarship for academic achievement, Ivy began her studies at Mercer University. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English with a minor in Secondary Education in 1994. Ivy was quite involved in the Mercer community, taking leadership roles in her sorority, Chi Omega, and on campus thru Panhellenic, Order of Omega and Student Union Activities Board. The Sertoma Club of Macon honored her with the 1993 Service to Mankind Award for her volunteer work with Macon Outreach. She was chosen Miss Macon 1993 and competed in the 1993 Miss Georgia Pageant.
Ivy joined Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia in 1995 as a small group sales representative in Macon and currently works as a regional sales representative in the Atlanta corporate office. During her tenure with Blue, she has consistently performed at or above quota and is a 5 time Leaders Conference qualifier. Ivy has served as President of the Middle Georgia Association of Health Underwriters as well as a State Board member of the Georgia Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors.
Active in charities related to the needs of foster children, Ivy is involved in fundraising for Murphy Harpst and with the Junior League of Gwinnett and North Fulton. Currently serving as Vice President of Finance for the Junior League, Ivy will begin her term as President Elect of the League in June of 2008.
Ivy is the wife of John Oxendine and they live in Peachtree Corners with their children, J.W. (16), Philip (11) and Caroline (9). The Oxendines are members of Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church.
