Alliant Credit Union today offically launches the Alliant Credit Union Foundation, announced David W. Mooney, President & CEO of the credit union and President of the Alliant Credit Union Foundation announed. Joining him were HOPE Founder and Chairman John Hope Bryant, Chicago Public Schools (CPS) Interim Director of Partnerships, Ms. Lisa Wiersma and Principal, Prescott Magnet Cluster School, Mr. Erin Roche.
Mr. Mooney who also serves on HOPE’s Mid-western board said, “The purpose of the foundation is to promote economic empowerment and self-sufficiency of people, especially in the communities in which Alliant Credit Union members and employees live and work.” He added that specific types of support provided by the foundation will include: Education – helping to raise the level of financial literacy of young people and adults; Service – donating time, energy and resources that improve conditions for those in need; Grants – improving the lives of people through financial support; Investments – providing community development investment dollars for projects and programs aligned with our mission.
“Contributions and support will go only to worthy causes, serving large segments of the communities we serve in non-controversial ways”, mentioned Moone. The foundation is registered as a 501c3 not-for-profit corporation.
Alliant has been a supporter of HOPE’s Banking on Our Future, Chicago branch. The program’s Chicago office opened in 2003. and has since trained over 50,000 area students in the basics of checking, savings, credit and investment.y.
