HOPE Bankers Bus Tour - From Chaos to Community - operationhope.org

15 years ago this month, on April 29th, 1992, South Los Angeles and surrounding areas were hit by the worst riot in U.S. history, in response to “not guilty” verdicts tied to the Rodney King trial. 15 years later, while work remains in key areas including the fostering of small business ownership and more entrepreneurship, investment (including the investments in one’s education), and homeownership by and for those living in our under-served community, South Los Angeles and its surrounding communities are in large part a success story of revitalization, from the bottom up.

On the anniversary of the Rodney King Riots the media will understandably run stock footage from April, 1992; images of burning, looting and civil unrest. With the HOPE Bankers Bus Tour we will offer the media, investors and leaders yet another perspective. The HOPE Tour will offer a balanced view of a diverse community on the move, “from chaos to community,” along with the many inspiring success stories that give the community its authentic voice.
