HOPE Inside services for the employees of The Atlanta Police Foundation and the Atlanta Police Department

The Atlanta Police Foundation and the Atlanta Police Department have sponsored Operation HOPE to provide a free financial empowerment program to help you take control of your finances. The counseling program is designed to help you make a plan on how to reach your goal of homeownership or recover from debt and low credit scores. A certified financial coach will listen to your needs and goals, and then sit down with you to review your credit report, prepare a budget analysis and establish a plan of action to resolve credit and savings issues.

In addition, by joining a 700 Credit Score Communities group you will take classes with like-minded individuals who are looking to improve their credit score. These classes will help you move your credit score to the 700+ range.

In the Homebuyer Workshop, you’ll learn about the homeownership process and how to be prepared. Topics include:

•Assessing homeownership readiness
•Total cost of a mortgage
•Types of loans
•Getting approved for a mortgage
•Homeownership process
•Post-funding

In the Credit & Money Management Workshop you’ll learn the basics of making a budget, how to read a credit report and what can be done to correct errors that may negatively affect your credit rating. The workshop will also cover your rights as a consumer, and how to make the most of them. Topics include:

• Budgeting
• Paying off debt and saving money
• Understanding your credit score
• How to read your credit report
• Your rights as a consumer
• Settling accounts
• Disputing inaccurate information
