HOPE Global Initiatives

Since 1992, Operation HOPE has worked to provide financial dignity to communities across the US.  In 2007, Operation HOPE expanded its financial education and financial literacy programs to countries outside of the United States, starting in South Africa.  Since then, we have expanded to Morocco, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.  Through our sister organization, Global Dignity, we have reached more than 60 countries and empowered nearly 2 million youth with messages of dignity.

HOPE in South Africa

In 2007, Operation HOPE expanded operations to South Africa. Starting with our signature youth program, Banking On Our Future, we contextualized and translated the program and taught students in the Gauteng and Western Cape provinces.  Specialized curriculum has since been developed for rural townships, adults and most recently our HOPE Business In A Box Academies entrepreneurship program.

Since its inception, HOPE South Africa has educated more than 63,000 women and children.

HOPE in Saudi Arabia

In 2012, Operation HOPE expanded programming to Saudi Arabia.  Working with a local partner, SEDCO, we co-developed the Riyali (meaning My Money) program, which includes a financial literacy curriculums for university students and elementary school aged youth. To date, the program’s in-classroom sessions reached 80,760 students and its total online beneficiaries touched 19,240. For more information, visit the Riyali program website.

HOPE in the United Arab Emirates

In 2013, Operation HOPE expanded programming to the United Arab Emirates. Working with a local partner, the Emirates Foundation, we co-developed the Esref Sah (meaning Spend Wisely) program. The Esref Sah features financial capability training for university students across all 7 emirates of the country.  To date, the program has reached more than 40,000 students. For more information, visit the Esref Sah program website.

HOPE in Morocco

In 2009, HOPE partnered with Wikipedia and the Casablanca Stock Exchange to launch the HOPE-Wikia Global Money Initiative. Using the Wikipedia platform to share our curriculum “open source”, partners like the Casablanca Stock Exchange are able to translate and contextualize the curriculum for students in their country.

Global Dignity USA

Global Dignity USA is the local chapter of Global Dignity, a nonprofit organization seeking to empower youth through dignity-based initiatives and the promotion of dignity-centered leadership.  The core curriculum, developed to aid the organization in achieving its mission, draws “dignity stories” from each of the program participants, which are then shared in a peer-to-peer setting.  These programs, known as “Dignity Days” are led by volunteer role models who aim to serve as facilitators in the dignity discussion, encouraging participants to key into the fundamentals of what dignity means to them and how to strengthen their dignity in order to be change makers in their own lives as well as in the lives of others. Since 2010, Global Dignity USA has reached more than 408,000 youth with messages of hope and dignity. For more information, visit the Global Dignity USA website.

Global Shapers, Atlanta Hub

50% of the world’s population is under the age of 27, the majority of whom live in urban areas such as Atlanta. We are becoming increasingly aware that solutions to our global challenges must purposefully engage youth, at all levels – locally, regionally, nationally and globally. This generation has the passion, dynamism and entrepreneurial spirit to shape the future.

Launched in 2012, The Global Shapers are an initiative of the World Economic Forum. The Global Shapers Community is a network of over 450 Hubs developed and led by young people who are exceptional in their potential, their achievements and their drive to make a contribution to their communities.  Operation HOPE’s Founder, Chairman and CEO, John Hope Bryant, was the Founding Curator of the Global Shapers, Atlanta Hub and continues to serve as an advisor to the Atlanta Hub. For more information, visit the Global Shapers website.
